The Building Inspector provides general information pertaining to the administration of the BC Building Code and other relevant standards. The Building Inspector can provide practical information on construction, plumbing, woodstove installation and other building systems. For more information, please contact the Building Inspector.
The Building Inspector reviews building plans, specifications and associated documents to confirm compliance with the BC Building Code, the Town’s Building Bylaw, and other applicable standards. The Inspector issues building permits and collects applicable securities. Once a permit has been issued, the site is visited at scheduled points during construction to ensure that construction conforms to the approved plans and conditions of the building permit and the requirements of the BC Building Code. To book an inspection, please contact the Town’s Building Inspections at 250-708-2256
The successful completion of the permit process results in the building receiving final approval. This building permit becomes part of the permanent record in the property file. This information is important to future property owners since it assures them that the work was done in accordance with applicable zoning, health and life-safety regulations
Bylaw Enforcement Officers are given the task of investigating concerns or complaints about alleged violations of View Royal’s bylaws. If you have a concern about a perceived bylaw infraction, such as an infraction involving excessive noise, a hazardous property condition, or a potential zoning infraction, you can submit a complaint to the Town.
